Tracy Rowberry: Psychotherapist
Empowering Growth | Promoting Well-being | Embracing Diversity
I am a fully qualified Person-Centred Psychotherapist, having graduated from the Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute (Nottingham) after completing an MSc Person-Centred and Experiential Psychotherapy (Distinction). I have a particular passion for supporting people from diverse and marginalised backgrounds, helping them explore challenges related to identity, belonging, and self-worth.
I am an accredited member of United Kingdom Counselling Psychotherapy (UKCP) and adhere to their professional standards, ethical codes of practice and continued professional development. For me working ethically is a key essential part of being a therapist.
Alongside my private practice, I have offered therapy in different settings including:
Nottingham Counselling Service: Initially as a volunteer, and currently an Associate Counsellor, I provide counselling for a diverse range of clients, offering a place of acceptance and support. Therapy work includes working on specialised therapy projects for Metropolitan Housing and the BACP.
Nottingham Trent University: Offering short-term, focused therapy to support students through mental health challenges during their academic studies.
Safe Space Counselling: As a volunteer therapist for this charity I provided remote therapy to individuals, from disadvantaged backgrounds, who were facing issues such as abuse, addiction, self-harm, suicidal thoughts, depression, and relationship challenges.
Tracy: the person
My person-centred values, deep belief in social justice and my mixed race heritage shape not only my work as a therapist, but also my worldview. I strive to be non-discriminatory and non-judgmental in all aspects of life, embracing inclusivity, empathy, and authenticity.
When I’m not working as a therapist, I love spending time in Northumberland with family and close friends. It’s a place that feels calming, spiritual, and rejuvenating—especially with its stunning beaches, where my dog loves to run freely.
As an animal lover, I share my home with my beloved dog and two handsome black cats, who occasionally make an appearance during remote therapy sessions.
I’m also a proud sci-fi and fantasy geek, a passionate musical theatre and movie watcher, and an avid reader who enjoys exploring books across various genres. These interests often find their way into my therapy sessions, helping to build connections and bring a unique perspective to my work.
